New Show : Dave the Chimp

My final show of 2010 will be taking place at Nina Sagt gallery. I
will be exhibiting some of the masks I've been making this year,
including collaborations with Michael de Feo, Phil Ashcroft, and
Mysterious Al, plus 60 brand new masks made for this show.

Bembe opens on Saturday 27th November, and runs until Christmas Eve,
so if you find yourself in D├╝sseldorf, don't miss it!

Those of you who can't make it will be able to see it take shape on my
mask blog:

ATM Gallery in Berlin is closing it's doors at the end of this year.
The gallery is run by the artist Emess, and he's made the decision to
close the gallery so he has time to work on his own art. ATM has been
a great supporter of Berlin based street artists for the last few
years, and it will be a shame to see it go.
The final show "Grande Finale" will open on Friday 19th November and
run up until Christmas. I'll have around 10 pieces in the show, priced
between 100 and 300 euros, so it's the perfect time to pick out a
Christmas gift for yourself!

Helmet Gallery in Munich will be celebrating the release of Christian
Hundertmark's latest book "The Art Of Rebellion III" with a group
show. I'll have 8 Human Bein paintings there, and the rest of the
gallery will no doubt be filled with so much good stuff your eyes will

Vicious Gallery in Hamburg will start the new year with an "editions"
show. I'll be making a new print for that. Watch their site for
That's all for now. Enjoy the winter!

Mister Melvin's Strip!

This is part of Mister Melvin's contribution to the book. This makes me laugh every time I read it, so I can't wait for people to see the entire strip! This is most likely the final strip for the book, so I am currently working on the order of the book, then we need someone relevant to be kind enough to write us an introduction. Then off to the publishers (fingers crossed)!

A bit of Art, and a Project Update

Hi all, this is part of Jarrett Young's final contribution to the book. The story is short, well thought out, and has that great edgy style that is Jarrett through and through.

The project has almost come together now, and I'm currently waiting on a couple of final contributions to be tweaked and sent back to me. The book layouts are almost there, and I'd imagine in two weeks we will have the book ready to approach publishers! It's been a long journey, but it isn't over just yet...

Back to work!

Book Design Ideas

We've been messing around with a few ideas for the look of the book itself. Most of the inspiration came from the great cover designed by Aurore Damant. The font creation for the logo was designed by myself, and hopefully it all works! I felt the old logo didn't fit 100% with the quirky style of the cover. Quite often you find with design, you go back on yourself and tweak bits and pieces until you feel at least satisfied that there is cohesion and that general feeling of contentment. I'm not sure if this will be absolutely final, but I'm happy with it so far.

I'll probably re-arrange the blog a little to help people familiarize themselves with the new logo. (Two logos is not a good look..!)

Jerrome Brown's 'Writers' Block'

Here's a teaser of what graffiti-mad Jerrome put together for the book!

Heather Dixon Strip

Here are a couple of pages from Heather Dixon's contribution. I thought this was definitely one of the strongest stories in the book so far. This is the World War II based story of Helmuth Hubener.

I know I said I'd post up one final page from each strip, without letters, but it doesn't give away too much. I thought it'd be a nice teaser!

Mathieu Beaulieu's 'The adventure of 2 pages'

Well, all I can say about this is it's actually really funny; sorry for being a tease! But you can check out the whole thing as soon as we're in print...

You can check out more of Mathieu's work here. Do it!

Jarrett Young Colour Keys

Jarrett says:

"Here are about 4 of 10 color keys. Initially, I was taking complete artistic license with the colors. Then I realized (at least to my knowledge) there are no sprawling meadows in Africa. Chris Batten had suggested we stick with golden grass since that's what he wrote about (hah!) so I went that direction with things. In the end, he wound up liking the bottom right color key, and while I find it a little pastel, I have to admit it's very friendly. Also, we were going for a children's book feel.."

Check out more of Jarrett's work over at his blog.

Teaser: Product Two's Strip

Here's a page out of Product Two's Strip. It's a bit more abstract than some of our other contributions and there are some great little gags tucked away in the strip as a whole. The subtle banter between the two characters is great, so I'm sure you'll like this one once it's printed as a complete strip in our book! I only wish I could show you more...

Barry Reynolds' Strip

Check out those great expressions on that character! More work to come soon...

Mister Melvin Ruffs

Here's page 3 from Mister Melvin's contribution to the book. Just from these pencil drawings I'm sure you can see Mister Melvin's great humour coming through--so I am looking forward to seeing the coloured version of this! Stay tuned...

'Paperboy' by El Tobe

Here's a page from El Tobe's contribution to the book. When I first put the book together, I was trying to assemble a team of artists that don't usually draw comics every day. This was in the hope that something a little unusual would happen. And I'm pleased to say it did...Can you believe this is El Tobe's first real attempt at using a comic style layout with his art work?

Quercus Stop Global Warming Animation

Take a look at this...It's not a part of our project, but I thought it to be very relevant. It's a great creative piece of work sending a very clear message about the importance of our actions as the dominant race in our world. It's very sad, but so good...

Director : FlavioMac. Post-Production : Seagulls Fly.

Lovely Work by Christine Dallaire-Dupont

'Hi! here is a final colored version. Hope you'll like it!

Oh and I found a title for my comic : Txori.

Got my inspiration from a really beautiful basque poem "txoria, txori"'

A Teaser by Oliver Akuin

-Hello everyone,

So here's a sneak peak of what I'm doing (for the book). It's about an all-nighter that goes terribly wrong... story of my life. haha! i haven't thought of a title yet. "the all-nighter" is temporary.

Cover Colours!

"Here is the colored version of the cover. Tell me if you like it. I used the logo from the blog for the title, but you can put anything you want, as long as it fit the composition. And I wrote a line of text, just to see how it could look like if you want to write something on the cover."

Thanks, this is great!! I might change the logo not sure yet. Looks amazing! Good job.

Initial Cover Illustration Sketch by Aurore Damant

'Here is an idea for the cover of your book. I hope the sketch isn't too rough, basically it's a happy businessman walking among others unhappy businessmen. I guess he went fed-up with his job and decided to live a better/crazier life symbolized by the paper-hat on his head. It's a kind of weird idea, tell me if you think it's funny or if you want something else. It might not fit the tone of the book, I don't know. You tell me.

I love this, it's a really nice concept. I'm sure it'll help our little book fly off the shelves. Let's run with it. Thanks!
